All primary and secondary schools in Sokoto State have been closed for three weeks due to the ongoing Ramadan.

The closure followed a directive by the state government to all the public and private primary and secondary schools to go on break beginning from Saturday, June 9.

According to the circular signed on behalf of the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, by Yusuf Mai’akwai, Director, Inspectorate Services in the ministry, the schools will reopen on July 1, 2017 after the completion of the Muslims fast.

The schools are currently in third term, and according to the circular, the term will end on Friday, August 11, 2017.

By dusk today in most parts of Nigeria, the ongoing fasting will be seventeen. And later this month, the Eid-Fitri prayer will be observed.
