Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra and his deputy, Onyekachukwu Ibezim, have had an open disagreement.
Their disagreement is flowing from the roadblocks being mounted by soldiers in the state.
Ibezim had last Saturday during a tour of the state for traffic-control expressed disgust at barricades put up by the soldiers in most parts of the state, blaming it for gridlocks and had a confrontation with the military men at Amansea, a border town near Enugu State.
Deputy Governor’s stand did not sit well with his principal, who through a statement by his Chief Press Secretary Christian Aburime, passed a vote of confidence in the activities of the army, saying it is advantageous to the state security-wise.
The statement partly, “In normal circumstances, these roadblocks wouldn’t have been needed, but this is what we brought up on ourselves; our people took up arms in the bushes since they have decided to operate in an abnormal way, and we now need an abnormal solution.
“I want to commend all the armed forces who put their lives on the line to have our people sleep with their two eyes closed; we will continue to strengthen them and make them even stronger to keep our people safe and secure.”
