Activist and former presidential candidate in the 2023 general polls, Omoyele Sowore, has pushed back at his being declared wanted by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh.

Jimoh had told newsmen at Oworonshoki area in Lagos where Sowore led a protest against the demolition exercise of buildings carried out in the area by the state government that the activist was wanted by the police.

The CP also condemned the protest held at Iyana-Oworo section of the Third Mainland Bridge, and announced the arrest of 13 of the protesters.

The wanted declaration slammed on Sowore has drawn his response through social media post in which he also accused the Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun of ordering officers to shoot the protesters.

“The Lagos Police Commissioner, Moshood Jimoh, has reportedly declared me ‘wanted’ for ‘disturbance of public peace’, allegedly as a result of his officers’ inability to execute a ‘shoot on sight’ order given by his illegal IGP, Kayode Egbetokun in Oworonsoki today.

“Despite my repeated attempts to contact Nigeria Police Force Commissioner Jimoh, he has not taken my calls, nevertheless, I plan to meet with him soon to address his declaration,” the Sahara Reporters publisher wrote.
