A 65-year-old man, Akpan Joseph has been arrested after he was caught trying to withdraw a million naira from an account belonging to one Chinedu Mba, a 35-year-old who was murdered about four months ago in his house in Gindiri Jos, Plateau state.
Akpan(pictured) had posed as Chinedu’s father on January 7, 2015, at a Union Bank branch in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital where he presented a filled money transfer form, directing the bank to transfer the sum of N1 million from his late son’s account, into two separate accounts.
The cashier was said to have harboured suspicions about Akpan after comparing his face with that in the computer system, and alerted security operatives in the bank.
Akpan who was arrested and dragged to Lagos State is presently detained at the State Police Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, in Ikeja where he is facing interrogation.
