The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, FUNAAB, has cleared a final-year year student, Oladokun Ayomide, of wilful poisoning of his girlfriend, Ugbokwe Mmasichukwu and her schoolmate, Odumosu Semilore.

Mmasichukwu and Semilore, both students of Federal Government College of Education, Osiele, had fallen sick during their visit to Ayomide’s residence after eating cake he offered them.

In turn, he was arrested for allegedly poisoning his visitors on unknown grounds with investigation launched into the incident while the ladies were hospitalized.

It has however turned out that Ayomide didn’t mean harm; the hospitality was done in good faith and only went awry.

This is according to a statement FUNAAB Assistant Director, Media Directorate of Public Relations, Olasunkanmi Olajide released.

In it, Olajide said the cake Ayomide entertained Mmasichukwu and Semilore with had a high amount of alcohol, adding that all charges against him have been dropped.

“It is crucial to emphasise that all charges against Ayomide, brought forth by the parents and the school of the affected ladies, have been dropped due to the lack of malicious intent,” it read.
