A female student of Federal University Gashua, Yobe State, Shamsiya Murtala, has died in a fire that razed the institution’s female hostel.
The incident happened on Saturday afternoon with the inferno claiming the life of Shamsiya, a 300-level student in Geography Department.
Report said it also destroyed a complete block of 29 rooms, accommodating about 301 students, adding that the deceased undergraduate was confirmed dead at General Hospital, Gashua, where she was rushed to.
The incident has equally gotten the University’s Registrar, Dr. Abubakar Mamuda to issue a statement with which the management directed students to vacate the Campus and retire home until further notice.
