Chief Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho has been arrested in neighbouring Cotonou, the Benin Republic capital.
Igboho, a lead figure in the agitation for a Yoruba nation was declared wanted by the Department of State Security Service, DSS, for allegedly stockpiling arms.
He had been on the run since the invasion of his Ibadan residence by the secret police only to be arrested on Monday night at Cotonou airport.
Report said the separatist was caught in the process of sneaking out of Cotonou with Germany reported to be his destination.
It is said that he would be repatriated to Nigeria on Tuesday to face prosecution.
