Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye is under investigation for allegedly partaking in illegal betting.
Okoye who plies his trade in Italy with Seria A side, Udinese is accused of wilfully earning a yellow card to profit from a bet placed on the incident in a match between his side and Lazio on March 11, 2024.
Okoye was booked by the referee in the 19th minute of the second half for time wasting.
The investigation of the 25-year-old goalie followed a report from Sisal regarding a series of bets for significant amounts linked to the warning of the Juventus goalkeeper during the match won in Rome 2-1.
If found guilty the Nigerian shot-stopper would be banned from football for up to four years.
Reports from Italy said Diego Giordano, the 40-year-old owner of the popular Biffi pizzeria, frequented Udinese players and, officials and were all under investigation.
