The Supreme Court on Wednesday affirmed Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa as winner of the state governorship election.

The apex arising from its decision dismissed the appeal of the All Progressives Congress candidate, Aisha Dahiru, known as Binani.

The five-member panel led by John Okoro said the appeal lacked merit.

The court also condemned the conduct of the state former Resident Electoral Commissioner, Hudu Ari, who earlier declared Binani winner of the election, describing it as irresponsible and criminal.

Okoro noted that the exclusive power to announce election results lies with the Returning Officer and not the REC.
