A suspect has bee arrested by Delta Police Command over allegation of financial inducement to influence the forthcoming Preliminary Training School (PTS) Examination organised by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria in collaboration with the Delta State Ministry of Health.

The Commissioner for Health in the state, Dr Joseph Onojaeme, made this public via a statement he released on Thursday in which little detail of the occurrence was revealed.

Kept under wraps amongst other vital information was the identity of the perpetrator(s); however, revealed, was that the discovery was made following a tip-off that led the Criminal Investigation Department of the State Police Command to arrest the suspect.

The report said the individual was caught red-handed while attempting to influence the examination process by offering financial incentives to compromise the system and gain undue advantage for certain candidates.

“The examination, which serves as a critical step in the training and certification of student nurses, is conducted under strict guidelines to uphold the integrity and standards of the nursing profession hence the authorities acted promptly to preserve the sanctity of the examination process and ensure that justice takes its course.

“The suspect is currently in police custody and will be charged accordingly upon the conclusion of investigations with a view to ensuring the matter get to its logical conclusion,” the statement read.
