Female hunters have joined their male counterparts in fighting bandits in Taraba State.

This is according to Daily Trust, citing a female hunter, Hauwa Lawal, as saying “We inherited hunting from our fore fathers while many other women have joined the hunters association as part of their contributions to free our towns and villages from activities of bandits.”

According to the report, quoting Hauwa, many people, mostly men and children were killed by the bandits in many parts of the state while girls and housewives were abducted and raped by bandits in parts of Karim- Lamido, Gassol and Bali local government areas.

The publication wrote that many married and single women are now part of the hunters association, participating in fighting bandits across the state.
