Preparations are in top gear in Jalingo for the formal declaration of Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The event is scheduled for Wednesday,November 19,2025 when he will be received into the party by its leaders.
The Jolly Nyame Stadium Jalingo venue of the declaration is currently undergoing massive renovation.
It had been abandoned for many years.
Also wearing a new look are roads across the capital.
Spokesman of the APC in the state Aaron Artimas said the entire PDP structure has agreed to collapse into the APC.
Artimas who is in the Publicity Committee of the event, also said the state is prepared to welcome either the President or the Vice President to the state and that citizens from the 16 Local Government Areas have been mobilised to participate in the event.
“Committees have been set up and they have been working. In fact, if you go round Jalingo, you will see billboards being erected in respect of this grand ceremony that would witness the coming of either the president or the vice president,” he said.
“We were also told that the governor has already sent emissaries all over the state to inform his own supporters and others and they have given him the go ahead to defect to APC. So everything is underway.”
Governor Kefas is the fourth governor elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to switch to the APC this year alone.
Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori,his predecessor Dr.Ifeanyi Okowa,members of the state executive council,federal and state legislators as well as other PDP chieftains joined the APC in April,while Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno followed in June.
Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah switched to the APC last month.
Kefas confirmed last month that he had met with President Bola Tinubu and received his approval to defect from the PDP to the APC.
According to him,the President subsequently handed him over to the APC national chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda.
