A cross section of students of Government Secondary School, Namnai, in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State on Wednesday escaped deaths from classroom collapse.
The affected students , according to reports are in their final year and at that material time writing the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination when the rooftops of their classroom collapsed on them under the heavy weight of a serious downpour accompanied by storm and wind.
Eyewitness account has it that the incident occurred around 6 p.m., shortly after a second group of students had commenced their exams, with exam officials and some National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members among the survivors.
“It was a heavy rain with storm and wind alongside. It caused some of the rooftops to collapse on those around and within the classes, and some injuries were recorded,” sources narrated.
