A teenage bride, Sadiya Umar, has been arrested for allegedly killing her husband, Umar Sani two weeks after their wedding.
The suspect is alleged of poisoning her spouse and causing his death at Yakasai where the couple lived in Kano State.
Police report of the incident said Sadiya poisoned the food she made for the deceased and immediately after eating he fell sick and died the following day at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) where he was rushed to.
According to police spokesman, Magaji Musa Majiya, a deputy superintendent (DSP), the woman was caught two days after she evaded arrest.
Majiya said: ‘’Three relatives of the late husband reported the incident to Kofar Wambai Police station in Kano metropolis on Monday. After the Police received the report on the incident, they went to the deceased matrimonial home at Yakasai quarters to affect her arrest, but found that the bride had ran away until yesterday when she was eventually arrested.”
