A teenage bride, Saudat Jibril, has killed her husband, Salisu Idris, in Kano nine days after their wedding.
The incident happened on Tuesday at Farawa Quarters in Kano metropolis.
According to the spokesperson for the state police command, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the 18-year-old wife used a sharp knife to slit Idris’ throat.
Kiyawa said the matter was brought to the knowledge of the police, and getting to the crime scene officers moved the victim to Kano Teaching Hospital where he was confirmed dead while his killer wife has been arrested.
“The victim was rushed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed him dead. The suspect has been apprehended and is currently in custody at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Homicide Section, and will be charged to court for the offence of culpable homicide” the police spokesman narrated.
He added, that the Commissioner of Police assured the public of a thorough investigation, stressing that the command would not condone violence or criminality.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through the police emergency lines.
