A Magistrates’ Court in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital on Wednesday ordered the detention of three aides of Gov. Ayodele Fayose who were arraigned for allegedly stealing $50,000(N25m) belonging to the governor’s personal assistant, Sunday Omosilade.

The suspects, Bamidele Temitope, 36; Afolabi Sunday, 42 and Shuaib Amidu, 67, were arraigned before Chief Magistrate, Adesoji Adegboye, who ordered the trio to be remanded in prison custody till Monday, when their bail application will be heard.
According to the prosecuting police officer, Mr Caleb Leranmo, the accused persons on December 29, 2016 at the Ekiti State Government House Lodge in Ado-Ekiti stole $50,000 from Government House Lodge in Ado Ekiti.
Leranmo in the charge claimed the accused persons conspired together “to commit felony to wit stealing”, adding that they “thereby committed an offence punishable under section 516 of Criminal Code, Cap C16, laws of Ekiti State 2012.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to all the charges, and their counsel, Mr Busuyi Ayorinde, in his submission, applied for their bail.
In a related development, rumour making the rounds in Ekiti is that not few domestic staff in the Government House, including a steward, cook and gardener, are in police custody over missing N75m.
It is said that a woman closed to a senior Government House official allegedly stole N75m.
