Three persons, two of whom were policemen have been killed in kidnappers’ attempt to abduct, Mrs Christy Uroye, wife of the lawmaker representing Warri South Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Augustine Uroye, on Monday night.

The other, a driver, was shot dead alongside the cops by gunmen in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

The driver was driving Mrs Uroye in an SUV while the cops were in the same vehicle escorting the lawmaker’s wife.

Report in general circulation said, the incident happened along Jakpa road around 7pm.

It narrated that the gunmen ambushed the vehicle, killed the police escorts, the driver and got hold of their intended victim.

However, their getaway car reportedly let them down in their frantic bid to leave the scene and fled with the victim.

“The getaway car’s movement was impeded after it rammed into an abandoned vehicle, prompting the assailants to flee without the captive,” eyewitnesses said.
