TikTok content creator, Abubakar Usman, aka Kilina, has been sentenced to prison for dressing like women in the line of duty.
A magistrate court in Kano, presided over by Magistrate Hadiza Muhammad Hassan handed down the judgment to Kilina.
Hassan of Court No. 21 found the TikToker guilty of promoting indecent behaviour, featuring and promoting cross-dressing in most of his videos, alongside the use of offensive and vulgar language.
The magistrate, however, gave the convict the option of paying a fine of N100, 000, in addition to a compensation fee of N30, 000 to the Kano State Film Censorship Board for what the court described and termed as “wasting the board’s time.”
The court also urged Kilina to wean himself of actions that violate public decency, failure he risks being sentenced without the option of a fine.
The latest conviction follows the pattern of many others which Kano State censorship board secured in its controversial bid to regulate content posted on social media in the area.
