President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been asked to resign due to the Airstrikes launched by United States military on terrorists’ camps in Sokoto State.
The attack has divided opinions with Take-It-Back Movement (TIB), a civil society organisation joining the ranks of those in opposition.
TIB in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, said it acknowledged the dangers posed by terrorist organisations operating in Nigeria but rejected any foreign bombing of Nigerian territory, even when framed as counter-terrorism.
“We recognise the grave threat posed by terrorist groups whose activities continue to claim innocent lives and destabilise communities across the country.
“While we support genuine efforts to end terrorism in Nigeria, it is important to note that we do not welcome bombing of our country by a foreign power done in the guise of fighting terrorism.”
The group said further that allowing the US to play the part it is currently playing in the war against terrorism amounted to admission of incompetence on the part of the Nigerian government.
On that supposed incompetent grounds, TIB called sought Tinubu’s resignation saying, “There is no reason to keep the government of Tinubu in power. He must go.”
