The family of late gospel singer Toluwanisings has raised the alarm over a viral fundraising campaign allegedly seeking donations for his widow and children, warning sympathisers against falling victim to fraud.
The controversial appeal, circulated on social media under the name of The Tolaoluwa Foundation, urged members of the public to contribute money to support the family following the singer’s death.
Titled “In Loving Memory of Minister Olayemi Bayonile (ToluwaniSings),” the flyer claimed that funds were being raised to provide care, comfort and practical assistance for his wife and children.
“As we honour the life and memory of our dear friend, we are raising funds to support the wife and children he leaves behind,” part of the appeal read.
However, the singer’s family on Thursday evening distanced itself from the campaign, describing it as false in a disclaimer posted on its verified Instagram page.
Reposting the flyer, the family urged social media users to report the account responsible for circulating the appeal, warning that any legitimate fundraising initiative would be announced through its official page.
“Disclaimer! This is not true, please. Please report this page en masse. If something like this ever comes up, it will be from this page. Thank you,” the family stated.
The warning was aimed at protecting sympathisers willing to support the bereaved family from suspected fraudsters allegedly exploiting the singer’s death to solicit money.
The family’s post had attracted more than 8,500 likes at the time of filing this report, reflecting the attention generated by the controversy.
Toluwanisings, whose real name was Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, died on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, after reportedly slumping in Ibadan, Oyo State.
His death sparked an outpouring of grief among fans and members of the gospel music community.
