Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday said President Muhammadu Buhari has ego problem, hence his ban of twitter.
The federal government slammed a suspension on twitter in Nigeria after the micro-blogging platform deleted Buhari’s tweet where he made reference to the civil war for contravening its policies.
The government also clamped down on users domiciled in the country with a threat to prosecute them but in defiance not few turned to Virtual Private Network, VPN, and continued to tweet.
The government’s actions that is causing financial loss to many, PDP governors in a communique they issued after a meeting in Uyo, the Akwa-Ibom State capital said, stemmed from the president having ego.
“The mere ego of Mr. President is not enough for such a drastic action that deprives millions of Nigerians from such an affordable means of expression and communication.
“The meeting consequently requested Mr President to review the suspension of Twitter operation in Nigeria in the national interest,” the governors said.
