The paper said foul play was not ruled out.
However, the gist of the circumstance surrounding the incident that gained currency among residents of the area, was that the deceased, who were boys went playing inside the freezer in the house and got locked up inside it dying in the process.
The report added that the freezer was not in use and had been abandoned for a year.
The alleged cause of the siblings’ deaths also has traction with the police, according to the report.
“There was no trace that the boys were killed and so far we have not made any arrest on the matter”, the spokesperson said.
“We did not suspect foul play because it appeared as if the kids were playing inside the deep freezer and the door locked on them when there was nobody at home to help them open the door. It is really a sad and unfortunate incident,” it quoted police spokesperson in the state, Femi Joseph, as saying.
