Claim by David, son of suspended Dean of Law University of Calabar, Prof Cyril Ndifon, that his father was kidnapped has been rubbished.

Prof Ndifon has been in the news for the wrong reason, bordering on female students in law faculty accusing him of sexual assault, and consequently a probe panel was instituted by the university authorities to investigate the claim.

Report of the embattled professor declining the panel’s invitations has also been in circulation.

David on Thursday said his father was abducted at their Akpabuyo residence in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State at gunpoint, an account the Department of State Services refuted.

The refutation is contained in a statement the DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya, released where it was said Ndifon was picked up by the secret police at the behest of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission with regard to his scandal.

“However, the Service, following the Commission’s request and in the spirit of interagency cooperation, supported it for a successful operation.

“This is to guide public understanding of the latest developments on the matter,” Afunanya wrote.
