The United States authority has been entreated to impose visa ban on Chairman of Lagos State, Parks and Garages Management Committee, Alhaji. Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo.
In a petition filed by one Adewale Olanrewaju on Change.org and entitled; Musiliu Akinsanya aka Mc Oluomo incites violence and needs to be banned from the US, the petitioner accused the commercial transport czar of inciting violence against the Igbos ethnic group during the just concluded elections.
Recall that MC retracted himself after videos of him making anti-Igbo comments in the build-up to the polls excited mixed reactions.
Ethnic violence relative to the election, particularly in Lagos where there was tension between the Yorubas and the Igbos were also recorded.
In the petition, Olarewaju wrote, “The recently concluded Gubernatorial elections in Nigeria had a very powerful, popular and influential politician on video, incite violence against the Igbo ethnic group in Lagos.
“Musiliu Adekunle Akinsanya also known as “Mc Oluomo” made threats against Igbo voters, and violence was carried out against the Igbos on election day. Many Igbos lost their lives, there is also on-going violence against the Igbos in Lagos, and it looks like the situation will only escalate. We hope we never get to the level Rwanda was in April 1994.
“Akinsanya is believed to be a green card holder in the US and since the US government claims it is against any form of disruption in democratic processes around the world including Africa, then the US government needs to act on Akinsanya’s status in the US, and remove him for his contribution to the recent violence in Lagos. We have numerous evidences to these claims.”
Five days after the appeal was posted on the digital petition site, over 15,000 persons have signed it and cited their reasons to justify the demand.
Some of the comments:
Femi Onasanya: “He has a terrorist organisation in Nigeria, because of this he sent his children to America for protection while he killed another people children.
Musiliu Akande aka Mc OluOmo he dangerous to public and the world at large.”
Emanuel Nduaguba: “This man has committed human rights violations in Nigeria. Preaching ethnic hatred toward the IGBOS. REVOKE HIS VISA and do not allow him to enter the US. His efforts in VOTE RIGGING, VOTE DUMPING, VOTER Intimidation have destabilized democracy in NIGERIA.”
Faosiyyah BAKARE: “He is a threat to the society. People has been killed and brutally injured by his general because of incitement against an ethnic group in Lagos. A recent event in Gubernatorial Election in Lagos.”
Chuks Adeojo: “This man have continued to exhibit some criminal tendencies inciting and causing ethnic tension in Lagos state .. he’s also unleashed mayhem on innocent voters preventing them from voting their preferred.”
It remains to be seen if the petition would secure the attention of the US authorities, not to speak of obtaing the author and signers’ general wish.
