The crisis rocking University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, UATH, Gwagwalada, has taken a new twist after a doctor, Dr. Kawu Ahidjo claimed there was an assassination attempt on his life.
Dr. Kawu Ahidjo(pictured), a spine surgeon, and former head of the spine unit has been at the centre of the UATH crisis after the hospital management accused him of insubordination and seeking favours to become the chief medical director of the hospital following his penchant for granting media interviews, and sacked him.
The embattled surgeon had fought back as he petitioned the House of Representatives committee on petitions and human rights and the chief of staff to the President against the UATH’s management.
Last Tuesday a new twist was added to the imbroglio following the allegation made by Dr. Kawu Ahidjo that an assassination attempt was made on his life at his private hospital.
Recounting the alleged assassination attempt, Dr. Kawu Ahidjo reportedly said the assassins spared his life after identifying him as a generous doctor but went away with his phones, laptops, money, his BMW X5 Jeep, all documents relating to his problems with University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, and other documents or papers with UATH logo.
