Mr Romanus Ejikeme, father of Ejikeme Mmesoma, who the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board accused of manipulating her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination result, has weighed in on the matter with a defence of her daughter.

Controversy has surrounded Mmesoma’s 2023 UTME result with her claiming to have scored 364 to which JAMB negatived, saying her original result is 242.

It led to the candidate’s arrest by the Department of State Security Services after she had been awarded N3m scholarship by Chief Innocent Chukwuma of Innoson Motors on the grounds that she was overall best with 362.

JAMB is equally threatening to take Mmesoma before the court alleging that the result she is parading is the forged copy of that of a candidate, Asimiyu Mariam Omobolanle, who sat for UTME in 2021 and scored 138.

However, her father rose in defence of the embattled teenager, saying in an interview with Punchng, “This is a case of foul play. My daughter’s result went viral and she is innocent of the accusation of manipulation levelled against her. She printed her result the same way others printed theirs and she does not have the capacity to manipulate anything on her own.

“She was not aware of the result, it was when the result was going viral that people drew her attention to it before she went to print it out from the Internet. The result has been with her for over a month; it was downloaded and they did not detect anything until now.”
