David Adeleke better known by his stage name Davido is scheduled to perform in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, today, Valentine Day.
The event is put together by the Senate President Bukola Saraki to mobilise voters to support the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Saturday’s election.
However, the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Alh. Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman, has raised the alarm saying the show was a smokescreen for disenfranchising quite a number of youths who will be in attendance.
“The outgoing PDP have cunningly made Permanent Voters Card (PVC) the gate pass of the said concert scheduled to hold at Ilorin Stadium tomorrow, Thursday (February 14). This is an attempt to clone and mop-up PVCs of voters, with the aim of disenfranchising them during the polls.
“We therefore, use this opportunity to advice our teeming supporters and indeed the entirety of liberation hungry Kwarans to not fall for the gimmick of the anti-masses elements. In the same vein, we call on all security agencies to swing into action.
It is in this light, we want to once again expose the anti-masses moves of the outgoing Senate President and his infinitesimal supporters, who have perfected plans aimed at mopping up and cloning voter’s cards of eligible voters under the alibi of a misguided and ill-advised concert with hip-hop artist Davido as the lead performer,” a statement released by the Director of Publicity of Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq Campaign Organization (AACO), Abdulrasheed Akogun, read.
