The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) in Ekiti State, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, has left his post over sex scandal plaguing him.
Abayomi is facing allegation from a senior staff member in the university, Engr. Folasade Adebayo of sexual harassment.
The issue, a saga, at one point saw the university’s Governing Council Committee clearing him of the charge while her accuser was censured.
The decision was met with public opposition, and also received thumbs down from the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa.
It has now made the alleged covetous Professor allegedly desiring of sleeping with the married engineer to fast track his tenure expiration.
With suspension staring him in the face, report said he was due to go on leave in preparatory for his tenure expiration, which ends in August but his appeal to the university Council to embark on it right now has been granted.
“You know, as a Vice-Chancellor, if you wish to end your tenure early, especially within six months to the end of your term, you are permitted to proceed on your accumulated leave.
“Although Fasina’s tenure is due to end in August, the Council has now asked him to proceed on that leave effective immediately,” a source acquainted with the matter revealed.
