Five persons including the mother of a student of Complete Child Development College Aule, Akure, Ondo State, have been arrested for subjecting the school Vice principal, Mr Alexander Rotifa(pictured above), to a serious beating.
According to report, Rotifa had caught a student of the school involved in the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination cheating during one of the exams with an android phone and seized the device.
It was said that subsequently, the affected student reported the matter to her parent(s), and consequently his mother, Mrs Dorcas Asije, mobilised four thugs with whom she stormed the school on Monday to attack the Vice Principal.
The attention of the Police were drawn to the matter by the school during the incident, according to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Olayinka Alayande.
Alayande said this in a statement he released where he made it known that the suspects have been arrested and the issue under investigation
“Following the assault on the Vice Principal of Complete Child Development Centre Akure, the Ondo State Police Command arrested Mrs. Dorcas Asije and four other accomplices.
“Acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) led a tactical team to ensure their swift arrest. The case has been transferred to SCID and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.
“The public is advised to remain law-abiding and report suspicious activity to the nearest police station,” the statement read in part.
