The viral circular said to have originated from West African Examinations Council (WAEC) which carried report that 120 schools have issues over the results of their students in the 2025 May/June (WASSCE) has drawn reaction from the exam body.
The circular purportedly from WAEC contained the alleged affected schools’ names with most of them based in Lagos.
It said the results of their students were withheld by WAEC for exam malpractices and called on the schools’ principals to appear at WAEC office with the candidates’ answer sheets.
The notice which emerged on social media upon the release of the WASSCE results by the examination authority has now been rubbished by the latter.
“The message never emanated from us. Moreover, WAEC will never ask any school to bring the scripts of their candidates to the office. Where would they get them from? We don’t know schools by their names. We only know centres and their Centre Numbers,” a WAEC official told this medium anonymously.
