Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde aka KWAM1, is a candidate for air travel ban after his bust-up with pilots and aviation security officers gained the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA concern.
The incident which occurred on Tuesday morning involved ValueJet Flight VK201 heading from Abuja to Lagos which the singer wanted to board with other passengers.
Trouble started after he was asked by crew members to give up the alcohol he held in a flask in his hand, on grounds that certain amount of alcohol is prohibited onboard.
This, it was said was met with anger by the singer, who according to general reports spew inanities at the officials including the pilot, Captain Ranti.
“Do you know who I am? You have no right to tell me to open my flask,” he was quoted to have said.
“As he reached the foot of the aircraft, security personnel reiterated that he could not board without complying with the inspection. He became confrontational, causing a disruption,” Captain Ranti said, adding, “To manage the situation and prevent further delay, I exited the cockpit and approached Ayinde to engage him amicably. Without warning, he opened the flask and poured its contents on me, the security personnel, and some nearby passengers.”
In the viral video of the moment, Wasiu is seen standing in front of the aircraft in a failed bid to stop it from taking off after security operatives prevented him from boarding.
His suicide attempt was ignored by the two pilots as the aircraft taxied while the musician scampered for safety.
Consequently NCAA handed down two months suspension to the pilots for breach of aviation safety protocols.
NCAA is considering placing KWAM1 on ‘no-fly’ list, an official of the aviation regulatory body told this medium.
