The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, said it has replaced its commander, Ikonsi who fell to the superior gun power of security operatives in the early hours of Saturday.

Ikonsi was killed by a tactical team of the Nigeria Police, Nigerian Army, and Department of State Services (DSS), in a joint operation.

They stormed the operational headquarters of the ESN in Awomama, Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State, killing him and six members of the group.

But barely 24 hours after Ikonso’s death, IPOB announced new commander and shared insight into how Iikonsi was allegedly killed in a statement its Secretary, Emma Powerful released.

“It is a lie. Nigerian Army does not have the wherewithal to enter IPOB’s camp. IPOB and ESN are intact. God is on our side,” he said.

He also said the slain commander had been replaced.
