Yusuf Suleiman, a 32-year-old businessman from the Sumaila Local Government Area of Kano State who returned salaries paid into his late father’s bank account by the Kano State Government has explained the motive that induced him.

Suleiman made headlines for returning monthly salary for about a year totalling N328,115.75 paid into his father’s account from November last year when he passed on to August 2023.

The 32 year-old told Punchng the rationale behind his manner in an interview he granted the medium; “I returned the money because of the fear of God, if I did not, Allah would ask hereafter. To be free from the wrath of Allah the most merciful, I voluntarily returned the money.”

The eldest of eleven children from his parents, according to him, upon the death of his father he is now charged with taking care of his younger siblings and their mother, a responsibility he said he is struggling with.

He told of how his famed act was greeted with mixed reactions saying, “It was after I returned the money that people called me a blockhead and a finished man, while some described me as a man with a conscience, kind-hearted, and transparent.”
