The Benin Electricity Distribution Company has said that those into kidnapping are committing lesser crimes when compared with energy thieves.
BEDC asserted this in its public awareness message written in pidgin English posted on its official X handle on Saturday.
It claimed that those into illegal connections of electricity are doing more harm than their kidnapper counterpart.
The tweets: “Person wey dey bypass light, worse pass kidnapper. You go soon understand why.
“Kidnapper collect ransom once. But person wey dey bypass light dey make all of us pay every day. Light no stable, transformer dey blow, bill dey rise.
“Na all of us dey pay for one person crime. Light go dey trip, transformer go blow, and people go dey complain say BEDC no dey do anything. But na because of that one person wey think say e smart.
“E no be smartness. Na wickedness. Bypass dey spoil everybody chance to enjoy better power. If you know person wey dey do am, talk, report. No cover am.”
