Top actress and film maker, Funke Akindele, said her colleagues used to body shame her to the point of being denied roles.
Jenifa as she’s also known, recounted her past suffering in the movie industry on Toke Makinwa’s podcast.
The mother-of-twin said movie makers passed her over for roles on grounds that she was “ugly” and most times, fellow actress Iyabo Ojo had to intervene, adding that the situation was so painful that it brought tears to her eyes.
Her words: “I remember people telling me, ‘You are not fine. You don’t have ass. You don’t have boobs. You will not be in this film.
“And, I remember crying. A lot of times I would cry, break down, get into the bathroom and cry.”
