The Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Kalu, on Wednesday, advanced reason for the inability of someone of Igbo extraction to assume the office of the executive president in the country’s history.

Kalu while speaking on Channels Television’s election programme, “The Verdict,” said the brand of politics persons from Southeast are fond of, accounted for one of their own being unable to win the coveted office.

The ex-Abia governor predicted that, the present endeavour of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, his kinsman, to break the jinx, is an exercise in futility.

According to him, “The people of the South-East are the best professionals but not the best politicians.

“We do politics with emotions and I want Igbos to stop doing politics with emotions; I want Igbos to do practical politics.”

Recall that in the first republic, late Nnamdi Azikwe, who was from the southeast was a ceremonial president under a parliamentary system of government headed by the Prime minister, Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa who hailed from the north.
