Omowunmi Aloba, widow of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, has thrown light on cause of the acrimony between her and her father in-law.
Omowunmi made the attribution public while testifying before the Lagos croner inquest into her spouse’s death.
The mother-of-one told the coroner, Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi, that she used to have a friendly relationship with the Senior Aloba until the birth of her son, Liam, caused a wedge between them.
She said the new turn followed her deceased husband’s failure to accede to his father’s request to have Liam’s naming ceremony held at his Ikorodu residence.
“I used to have a very good relationship with my father-in-law before the birth of my son, Liam. In fact, I used to invite him to our house on many occasions.
“But because Mohbad was angry with him over some of the things he was doing and his refusal to hold our son’s naming ceremony in Ikorodu, he became angry with me, thinking I was the one behind it all.
“So he became my enemy and was not talking to me like before,” Omowunmi remarked.
