Ex-international, Friday Ekpo has made case for Super Eagles Head Coach, José Peseiro to continue at the helm of Senior National team affairs.
Pesiero has come under attack with widespread call for his sack after guiding the team to two draws against minnows, Lesotho and Zimbabwe in the World Cup qualifying campaign.
Ekpo departed diametrically from the sack call saying it would amount to nothing.
Instead, the mid-field maestro in his days said, the solution to arrest Eagles’ underperformance was to give room to the home-based players in the team.
He opined this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria, saying: “I’m not calling for Jose’s head like most people are, sacking him will be counterproductive at this point in time. These results can be reversed in subsequent matches.
“My only concern is that we shouldn’t have only foreign based players in the team, because selecting his team for matches will be tough.
“No foreign based player would like to leave their clubs just for them to come and seat on the bench, we’ve done it in the past and it worked, we can do that again.”
