The police have advanced reason for the delay in prosecuting the woman who allegedly stabbed her pregnant neighbour to death over N1,000 debt in Edo State.
The accused simply identified as Mama Emmanuel had last Monday at 23, Iyamu Street, off Textile Mill Road, in Benin, allegedly stabbed her neighbour, Mrs. Ikhuoria(pictured), who was six-month pregnant to death.
It was reported that the deceased approached the accused to repay N1,000 she loaned her and it led to a fierce battle between them during which Mama Emmanuel reached out after a knife and stabbed her creditor to death.
Addressing newsmen on Monday on the issue, the Police spokesman in the state, Mr. Osifo Abiodun said the accused has not appeared in court on a criminal charge because the police is still awaiting the autopsy report.
He said: “A pathologist has been contacted to ascertain the effect of the stabbing on late Mrs. Ikhuoria, and after the postmortem report, the accused who has been in police custody, will be charged to court.”
