The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has sought forgiveness from Senator Adams Oshiomhole for humiliating the former Edo State governor.

Recall that while Wike was Rivers State Governor and back then committed to the Peoples Democratic Party.

In the time of Edo governorship election in 2020 he threw his weight behind the reelection of Godwins Obaseki, who was PDP candidate, and Oshiomhole’s estranged ally and successor as Edo governor.

The Senator whose contribution to Obaseki’s emergence as the governor in the first place was huge was a big voice against his reelection which made him(Oshiomhole) became a victim of Wike’s characteristic vitriols.

Speaking in Benin at the inauguration of the New Edo Line Terminal, the second phase of the Edo State Benin Central Bus Terminal, Wike in stark contrast to Oshiomhole’s advice to Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State to probe his predecessor, the FCT minister urged the incumbent not to go that route.

He also begged the Senator representing Edo North to forgive him for those insults he hurled at him back then.

“If there is someone who would have encouraged Okpebholo to probe and prosecute Obaseki, that person should be me, but what I suffered in ensuring that he returned for a second term and how he paid me back is now in the past.

“We must pass through this process in life, and move on for the development of Edo State. Don’t do it, I’m the one who should have told you to pursue this man, I know what I passed through.

“Leader(Oshiomhole) I know how pained you are and what you passed through, I know the suffering you suffered and it was like a humiliation to you.

“I was part of it because I humiliated you. I apologised on national TV to you. Sorry for what I did to you, leave it and let them carry their wahala and go,” a statement by the minister’s media aide, Lere Olayinka quoted him as saying at the event held on Sunday.
