The management of Championship side, Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, has announced its resolve to donate ten percent of its gate-takings in their season opener on August 5 against Middlesbrough to the medical treatment of Carl Ikeme.

Ikeme last week during pre-session routine medical check-up was diagnosed with leukaemia.

Announcing its plan for the 31-year-old goal tender, the management said the Nigerian international will profits from the sale of replica shirts branded “Ikeme 1”.

It said Ikeme will remain their number one for the rest of the 2018 season.

“Wolves can confirm that Carl Ikeme will remain listed as the club’s number one for the 2017-18 season,” a club statement read.

Wolves also announced that a large banner, flags and messages of support for Ikeme on the electronic boards during matches are among the club’s other initiatives.

Throughout his 14-year professional career, Ikeme has been with Wolves.
