A woman simply identified as Malama Khadija is in the news for interesting reason.
She separated from her first husband and went on to marry her daughter, Aisha’s suitor, a marriage that is causing stir in Kano where it happened at Rano Local Government Area of the state.
As per Daily Trust that related the report, Malama Khadija decided to marry Aisha’s boyfriend after the daughter declined the man’s marriage proposal.
The mother’s decision is drawing her censure, with her uncle, Abdullahi Musa Rano, accusing Hisbah Commandant of having a hand in it, in an interview he reportedly granted Freedom Radio.
“She mounted pressure on her husband to divorce her just to marry the man. We can’t do this shameful thing in our family which was why we refused to join them in marriage. We are not happy with what Hisbah did and we are reporting to bring out our daughter. We want the general commandant and the state government to look into the matter,” Rano reportedly said in Hausa.
The woman is unmoved by the opposition to her choice, she rationalized it on the same Freedom Radio, saying,“I didn’t do it with ignorance. I contacted clerics and they said it is not prohibited. When I contacted him, he agreed, but my parents and relatives refused to do the marriage rites. That was why I decided to go to Hisbah and we are happily married now.”
