A woman, Mrs Rebecca Oladosu, who was hospitalised after Basirat Lamidi and her daughter in-law, Taye Lamidi, bathed her with hot water mixed with pepper, has died of injuries she sustained in the attack.
The vicious attack of the middle-age woman occured at Okeyelu village in the Olorunda Local Government Area of Osun State on October 30, 2018.
Consequent upon the attack, the duo were charged with assault. However, on account of the demise of Mrs. Oladosu, the police prosecutor, Inspector Muslim Jafani, while announcing her death in the court on Friday asked that the previous charges levelled against the accused be struck out and be replaced with felony and murder.
Magistrate R. A. Olayemi, in her ruling, ordered that the accused be remanded in the custody of the Ilesa Prison and adjourned the matter till March 21, 2019, for hearing.
