A 28-year-old woman, Oluchi Mba, has been arrested in Anambra State for selling her newborn baby for N350, 000 allegedly in order to raise money for Christmas, which is barely over three months away.
Oluchi, a resident of Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state, was said to have sold the seven-day old to a 55-year-old, Edith Obiakor, who in turn resold the baby to her in-law, one Vitus Aniunoh, 50, in Onitsha for N650,000, Punch reported.
“We were together one Sunday and she was boasting about how she would celebrate this year’s Christmas in grand style.
“I told her that it was too early to plan for Christmas now, but she kept on boasting and saying she would want to have fun during the season. I didn’t know she was planning to sell her own child. This is terrible,” an unnamed source told the publication.
