Salvation Ministries founder, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has delivered a blunt warning to internet fraudsters, telling them not to bring proceeds from their alleged crimes into the church as offerings.
Ibiyeomie, during a recent sermon, condemned internet fraud, popularly known as “Yahoo Yahoo”, describing it as outright stealing.
The fiery preacher said no amount of justification could make it right for anyone to take another person’s money through deception.
According to him, some internet fraudsters allegedly continue to attend church and make financial contributions despite knowing the source of their wealth.
He warned Christians against attempting to “sanctify” fraudulent proceeds by bringing them into the house of God.
“Yahoo is stealing. I don’t care how you paint it. Whatever you take that belongs to somebody else is not your own; it’s stealing.”
Ibiyeomie went further, specifically warning alleged fraudsters within his congregation to take their offerings elsewhere.
He said the church would not welcome money obtained through fraudulent activities, regardless of how large the donation might be.
“If you are a Yahoo boy in this church, go to another church and give your offering. I don’t care how much you have. Go, go, go, because you are killing people.”
The pastor also warned Christians against knowingly associating with people involved in internet fraud, urging them to distance themselves from such individuals.
‘PROFESSOR LOST EVERYTHING, THEN DIED’
Ibiyeomie also recounted the case of a university professor who, according to him, became a victim of internet fraud.
The cleric said the professor was among consultants who worked on one of his church’s project sites.
He claimed the professor lost all the money in his bank account to fraudsters and subsequently collapsed and died.
The story, he said, was an example of the devastating consequences internet fraud can have on its victims.
Ibiyeomie therefore urged young Nigerians to reject cybercrime and pursue legitimate means of making a living rather than enriching themselves at the expense of unsuspecting victims.
