Governor Ibrahim Gaidam on Thursday escaped death by a whisker after angry residents of Dapchi attacked his convoy when he visited the place on Thursday to meet with parents and guardians of missing students of  Government Girls Technical College.
The state government had earlier announced that the missing girls had been rescued by the military only to change its narrative less than 24-hour after, saying the girls were still in captivity.
The uncertainty surrounding the fates of the girls and the state government ‘s double-talk regarding their rescue combined to create a highly charged atmosphere in Dapchi.
And when Gov. Gaidam came around, angry residents pelted his convoy with stones, injuring some of his aides, government officials, and destroying seven vehicles in the convoy as security men attached to the governor used tear gas to disperse them.
