Following the admission of late MKO Abiola’s wife, Mrs. Dupe Onitiri-Abiola, that she was at the centre of the invasion of the Oyo State Secretariat by Yoruba Nation agitators, and the consequent manhunt launched for her by police, an aide of the late business mogul, Dr. Wale Fasakin, has weighed in on the matter.
Mrs Onitiri-Abiola had in a viral video of her claimed responsibility for Saturday’s incident by means of sponsorship, with Professor Banji Akintoye, and Sunday Igboho also corroborating her and distancing themselves from the indiscretion.
Dr Fasakin jumped on the widow in an interview he granted The Nation casting doubt on her status as late MKO Abiola’s wife.
“She is not one of the officially recognised wives. The agitators are saying Oduduwa Nation. The Yoruba Nation she is talking about, I don’t know what she wants to achieve.
“Where does she get the power to organise such a thing? How can they organise such a thing?
“She is not one of the recognised official wives – the official wives are four – Kudirat, Simbiatu, Bisi, and Doyin. She may be Abiola’s wife but she is not one of the wives declared when he was campaigning.
“These were the people living in his house. When Simbi died, those living with him were three. Those are the three he referred to as official wives during the Hope 93 Campaign. So Onitiri is not one of the official wives,” he told the publication.
