The Governor Bello Matawalle-led administration has again been accused of supporting the vile activities of bandits in Zamfara State.
Deposed chairman of Maradun Council, Zamfara State, Ahmad Abubakar, threw this accusation at the state government during an interview with newsmen.
Abubakar alleged that the government is supplying bandits with vehicles citing the recent attack on Janbako community of Maradun.
He said the gunmen stormed the community in three new Hilux vans allegedly gifted them by the government, a claim the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Enlightenment, Media and Communications, Zailani Bappa, denied.
Bappa said, “Either due to carelessness, quackery or sheer mischief, the medium went ahead to publish this mischievous story, which was obviously sourced from the enemies of peace in the state without getting the side of government.
“Governor Bello Matawalle used from the meagre resources of the state government to purchase 200 Hilux vans in support of security operatives in the state.”
