A teenager, Ayomiposi Esan,
has been arrested for stealing his parents’ car and some valuables in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The thieving teenager in his quest to perpetrate the dastardly act locked up his parents, identified as Mr Oluwafemi and Mrs Tosin in the wee hours of September 3, 2023 after breaking into their residence, and made away with the family’s Toyota Corolla, three mobile phones, two generator sets and a sound system.

Report said the couple woke up to find themselves locked up and had to alert neighbours who helped them gained exit.

Subsequently his parents took the matter before the police who in turn tracked down the suspect to Lagos.

Before his arrest, he was said to have sold one of the generator sets.

However, it was gathered that the parents stood in the way of the police from prosecuting him.

Speaking on the matter, the state Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, said, “The course of the investigation was truncated by the complainant, who was equally the biological father of the suspect, as he vehemently declined prosecution of his son, one Ayomiposi Esan. He wanted his son and the recovered stolen goods, including the car, released.

“In the spirit of community policing and taking into consideration the image of the force so that police will not be seen as being too harsh on him and his family, the teenage son was consequently released with his property on bond.

“However, the son was counselled, cautioned, and advised to turn a new leaf and shun further indulgence in all forms of delinquency to avoid future occurrences.”
