Not less than eighteen industrious sons and daughters of Kano on Saturday reportedly died of suspected coronavirus.

The deceased were from all walks of life, including education, media, politics and banking represented by a regional manager of First Bank, Abdullahi Lawal.

Others are: the CEO of Hassan Gwarzo School, Prof Ibrahim Ayagi, former Kano Grand Khadi, Alh. Dahiru Rabiu, Dr. Musa Umar Gwarzo, former Editor of Triumph Newspaper, Mal Musa Tijjani, former Secretary, State Universal Education Board, Alh. Adamu Iliyasu Dal and Alh Salisu Lado.

Also dead: Hajia Shamsiyya Mustapha, Hajia Nene Umma, Alh. Garba Sarki Fagge, Dr. Nasiru Maikano Bichi, Prof. Aliyu Umar Dikko of Physiology department BUK, Alhaji Rabiu Dambatta, Kabiru Ibrahim Bayero, Hajia Gwanja, Alh Garba Sarki Fagge, Alh Idi Mai Lemo Sheka and Captain Abdullahi Gyadi Gyadi.

According to multiple reports, all the deceased died within a space of nine hours on the fateful day with all occurring between morning and 3.00pm.

Their demise was the latest in a string of spate of sudden deaths recorded in Kano which began about a week ago.

The situation provoked panic among residents of widespread coronavirus but the state government said it was investigating the cause of the strange deaths.

As of Saturday, officially the State coronavirus case is 74.
